How the HOME Advice Program works

The HOME Advice Program has four key service delivery components:

  1. Direct early intervention to assist families at risk of homelessness;

  2. Community development activities;

  3. Use of flexible brokerage funds to purchase additional services for client families;

  4. Development of effective working relationships with a range of services including housing services, schools, drug and alcohol services, family support services, mental health services, emergency relief services and social and community support services. As part of this component, separate funding is provided for a Centrelink social worker in the eight local Centrelink offices to work on the HOME Advice Program. Community service providers work in partnership with Centrelink to ensure families have access to income support and other relevant Centrelink services.
